Principal endures cold temperatures while reading from roof

People driving by North Elementary took a second look out their windows on Tuesday. North Elementary Principal Coby Kirkpatrick was sitting on the schools roof. Why you ask?

Kirkpatrick took part in a principal challenge that is part of the Pizza Hut BOOK IT program that encourages kids to read for fun.

During the day, different classes all bundled in their coats came out to the front lawn of the school to hear (via a loud speaker) Mr. Kirkpatrick read a favorite book or two including Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham. The program is part of National Young Readers Week.

One elementary school principal will win 101 copies for their library of the newest book in the Wimpy Kid series, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel,” which was released on Tuesday.  Jeff Kinney, author of the Wimpy Kid books, will personally autograph one of the books for the principal who reads his heart out.
