‘Tis the season to be jolly

City of White Settlement workers (l-r) Santos Guillermo, Hunter Galloway, Jeff Ray, Greg Sellers and Juan Soto install one of two 20 foot trees in the City Hall plaza. The crew has set up nearly 100,000 lights, dozens of banners and many holiday decorations on city buildings, the local police station and Veterans Park. The official lighting will be Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.

‘Tis the season and several area municipalities are planning holiday festivities.  Below is a list of which ones are coming up and the details you need to get out and enjoy them.  

 

Saturday, December 1, 

11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Looking for a unique Christmas gift?  The annual Lake Worth Craft Fair might be the spot for you.  Located at 7005 Charbonneau Road in Lake Worth, the craft fair runs until 7 p.m. and vendors will be there selling hand crafted items ranging from jewelry to baked goods.  A snack area will be selling food to any shoppers who work up an appetite.

 

Saturday, December 1, 7 p.m.

The City of Benbrook will hold the twenty first annual Christmas tree lighting and fireworks show at the Benbrook Community Center/YMCA located at 1899 Winscott Road.  Presented by the Benbrook Firefighters Association, this event will see money and non-perishable food item donations accepted at the front gate.  The tree lighting and fireworks will be followed by the Benbrook winter wonderland exhibit at Dutch Branch Park.

 

Sunday, December 2, 10 a.m.

Those looking to honor the memory of our fallen military members may want to head out to the special Snowball Express event in Downtown Fort Worth.  Children and families of fallen military members are the guests of honor in this event, as they travel down a prepared route.

Buses carrying the guests of honor will travel up Commerce Street, around the courthouse, and down North Main Street to Stockyards Boulevard.  They will then be led up Exchange Avenue in a “walk of gratitude” parade.

 

Friday, December 7, 

6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

White Settlement will hold its annual Christmas event at the White Settlement Rec Center, located at 8213 White Settlement Road.  The event is free and there will be free pizza, free holiday kids crafts and snacks, as well as a free picture with Santa.  Bounce houses, climbing walls, train rides and other activities will be available for kids to enjoy.
