The Brewer Bears varsity boys basketball team fought hard all season to secure a spot in the postseason, but on Tuesday their 2012-2013 campaign came to an abrupt end.  Their first round playoff game was against Fort Worth Dunbar at Chisolm Trail High School.

023Things got off to a rocky start for the Bears, who struggled to get anything going offensively early in the game.  They fell down 12 – 0, but finally found success when they started attacking the lane.  This lead the Bears on a late quarter 11 – 2 scoring run that pulled them to within 3 points.

In the second quarter, Dunbar started distancing themselves.  They found success from the 3-point range, and Brewer also struggled to get many offensive rebounds.  Heading into halftime, the Bears were down 39 – 22.

Brewer fought hard to stay in the game in the third, but despite some great efforts could never close the gap that Dunbar had opened up.  A few untimely turnovers helped Dunbar stay one step ahead on the scoreboard, and the Bears found themselves down by 13 heading into the final quarter.123

Dunbar pulled even further away in the fourth quarter, and with three minutes left in the game both teams had inserted several backups into the contest.  The final score was Dunbar 71, Brewer 45.

Brewer supporters turned out in full force to cheer on the Bears, filling up their entire side of the gym as they cheered and shouted for the team.
