Fort Worth Firefighters battle a house fire in Tejas Trails. The fire was started by a lighting strike this past week.

Lightning strikes from a thunderstorm this past week struck two homes in the Fort Worth area, one hitting close to home in Tejas Trails.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, the home owner at 404 Yuchi Court called the fire department stating that her house was on fire. When firefighters arrived on scene they found the rear of the structure heavily involved in flames. Handlines were deployed and crews began an interior attack. However, that changed when Battalion Chief Hunka ordered all crews out of the house.  Chief Hunka said they went into a defensive mode when handlines were unable to control the fire.  The Chief went on to say that the house was a total loss.

No injuries were reported.

The second fire was called in at about the same time on the city’s east side.  Chief Novak, the Incident Commander, said the rear of the residence suffered extensive damage destroying a garage and one back room.
