Traffic patterns and peak travel times can change as drivers alter daily routines once school is back in session. Normal “rush hour” traffic may start a little sooner as parents start their drives earlier to accommodate school zones, bus stops and lines of cars at schools. The usual off-peak travel times also may be a little more crowded.
The beginning of a new high school year also brings more inexperienced drivers to the road. Plan to be more cautious as the school day starts and ends (typically 7:15-9 a.m. and 2:45-5 p.m.) especially in marked school zones.
School starts this Monday for most districts in the area.
