A parole violator led White Settlement Police on a wild pursuit into the next county Tuesday morning that ended in a shoot-out and wreck. The incident closed Farm to Market Road 3325 in Parker County for several hours.
The event started when police tried to locate the suspect in White Settlement, and the man fled in a SUV along with another person. These two led 4 police cars south on Cherry Ln. and onto I-30 west into Parker County. As the suspect exited the highway, his vehicle spun out striking one of the patrol units. The driver fired shots at police before continuing north on FM 3325 where the suspect’s vehicle wrecked. Gunfire was exchanged again and the driver was shot. The passenger in the vehicle, who was the original suspect with the parole violation warrant, was arrested.
The driver who was wounded in the shooting was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital where he underwent surgery. The wounded man is in stable condition and is expected to be charged with attempted capital murder and evading arrest.
Texas Rangers, as well as the Parker County Sheriff’s office, were investigating the incident. The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
