Man shot during westside break in

Fort Worth police said a man suspected in a reported burglary was shot and injured Thursday morning.

According to Shawn Stone with the Fort Worth Police Department, officers confronted a man suspected of breaking into an apartment in the 2800 block of Westwind Circle around 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

When officers found the man, police said the man tried to use a crowbar to injure one of the officers, which cause the second officer to shoot the man. Police said the second officer feared for the safety of the other officer and his own safety as well.

The man was taken into custody following the shooting and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. That man is expected to survive.
