Parade of lights moves to waterway this Saturday

boat parade

Holiday celebrations continue this weekend and this week’s lighted parade moves from land to water.

The grand finale of the Lake Worth Centennial Celebration will be a boating Parade of Lights Dec. 6.

Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three decorated boats in each of three categories; Sail, Pontoon, and Power boats.

Participating boats will gather for staging at 5:30 p.m. in the cove between the Lake Worth Boat and Ski Club and Willow Island, on the eastern end of Lake Worth. The parade will begin at about 6 p.m. and take 1½ to two hours to complete.

Boat captains are requested to follow in line behind the leader of their boat category. This will assist the judging process.

Best public viewing locations are at Marina Park, Casino Beach Park, Mosque Point Park, Arrow-S Park and The Point restaurant. Naval Air Station/Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base personnel can view the parade from the Lakeside recreation area.

In case of high winds or icy weather, the parade will be moved to Dec 13.  Contact parade officials at 321-209-5972 for more information.
