A segment of Silver Creek Road from Watercress Drive to Western Oaks Road will be closed beginning Dec. 1 while crews reconstruct the Silver Creek Bridge. The project is expected to take six months to complete.
The project is part of the federal Highway Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Program that uses federal funds to assist states in replacing or rehabbing deficient bridges on public highways, roads and streets, including those under local jurisdictions.
The new structure, in far west Fort Worth, will include a 460-foot-wide bridge with shoulders on each side to accommodate future expansion of Silver Creek Road.
The closure also allows for the rehabilitation of Silver Creek Road between the Silver Creek Bridge and the Live Oak Creek Bridge as funded in the 2014 Bond Program. This will be Phase I of a two-phase project for road improvements.
Access to local businesses and neighborhoods will be maintained. Emergency responders have coordinated a response plan to address emergencies during the closure.
The project is managed by the Texas Department of Transportation.
