Neiman Marcus said last week that it will anchor a new shopping center in Fort Worth and close its Ridgmar Mall store.
Simon Properties Group, the largest U.S. shopping center developer, and Fort Worth-based Cassco Development Co. are building the 500,000-square-foot open-air center to be called The Shops at Clearfork.
The new two-level, 90,000-square-foot store will open in February 2017. Clearfork is a 270-acre development on Fort Worth’s Edwards Ranch between Hulen Street and Bryant Irvin Road. The property is along the Trinity River, south of downtown and the cultural district.
Neiman Marcus opened its 119,000-square-foot Ridgmar store, its only Fort Worth location, in 1977. It’s one of the chain’s oldest stores and will close in 2017 when the Ridgmar lease is up, said Ginger Reeder, Neiman Marcus vice president.
Ridgmar’s owner, Chicago-based GK Development, said it’s aggressively looking for retailers to bring into the center, which is also anchored by Dillard’s, J.C. Penney, Macy’s and Sears.
