Brewer graduate Skyler Howard will be the starting quarterback for the West Virginia Mountaineers as they take on the Texas A&M Aggies in Monday’s AutoZone Liberty Bowl. The game will air on ESPN at 1:00.
Howard was the backup quarterback for the Mountaineers for most of the season but performed well when he took over for injured starter Clint Trickett late in the season. Trickett missed the last games of the season due to concussions and has since announced that due to concerns over multiple concussions he isn’t going to play in Monday’s bowl game.
In his limited playing time over three games this season, Howard is 36 of 65 for 483 yards with five touchdown passes and no interceptions. He’s received multiple mentions on the ESPN network of websites and now has a national spotlight as he looks to deliver a Mountaineer win on Monday and cement himself as West Virginia’s quarterback of the future.
