Eleven Fort Worth ISD high schools will receive artificial turf fields approved by the FWISD Board of Education.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Patricia Linares and staff identified funds making this possible through a balance in the District’s Internal Service Fund. That money — $10.5M –will be legally transferred to the General Fund to cover the cost of the turf fields.
“We know how important this safety issue is for both our athletes and band members,” said Dr. Linares.
“The Board is thrilled we will be able to provide all of our schools with a high-quality turf field in a fiscally responsible manner,” said Board President Norman Robbins in a statement.”
Two schools, Paschal and Arlington Heights High Schools, currently have newer turf fields arranged through the District and funded by each school’s booster clubs.
