Construction on Project Begins Soon
The North Texas Tollway Authority Board of Directors began the process of improving traveling conditions for motorists on the President George Bush Turnpike on March 18. The Board approved two key contracts regarding the construction of the first phase of the PGBT Fourth Lane Project. Munilla Construction Management, LLC dba MCM was contracted for construction work from the Dallas North Tollway to Renner Road, and Foster CM Group was contracted for construction management services.
The PGBT Fourth Lane Project is needed to respond to the increase in traffic demand and on-going commercial and residential development in the project area.
NTTA plans to widen approximately 26 miles of PGBT from Interstate 35E to State Highway 78 to four lanes in each direction within the existing right of way and median. The project is divided into two phases. Construction of Phase 1 is anticipated to begin second quarter of this year and is expected to last 18 months. Phase 2 will begin in 2016.
