The Texas House is debating a bill to outlaw texting while driving.
A similar bill was vetoed by Gov. Rick Perry four years ago. And two years ago one failed to pass Texas Senate. Gov. Greg Abbott said last year he would veto the bill if it makes it to his desk, but he has not taken a position on the issue since being sworn into office. About 40 cities around the state have already taken action with their own bans. Texas is one of only six states in the country that doesn’t have a statewide ban on texting and driving.
