Last week in our coverage of the council’s trip to the retail convention in Las Vegas we reported that the total cost of the trip was $4,534. That information was given to The Grizzly Detail by council member Danny Anderson, one of three council members who went on the trip. Since that report, Anderson asked City Secretary Amy Arnold to contact us to clarify the total costs of the trip. The amount Anderson had provided pertained to travel costs. However, the entire trip including hotel, airfare, ground transportation, meal expenses and registration fees cost $9,694 for the five city representatives that went.
In addition, only a portion of the trip came out of the hotel/motel tax. This tax can only be used for promotional purposes. Most of the trip was paid out of the travel and training accounts.
