Lady Bears sweep 2015 district 5-5A awards

SOFTBALL VARSITY 1

The Brewer High School Lady Bears softball players swept the District 5-5A awards this season.
In a unanimous vote, Junior Shannon Rhodes (3rd baseman) was named District MVP, and senior Jordan Kisselburg (right fielder/pitcher) was selected Utility Player of the Year.
Juniors Bailey Turner (pitcher), Danelle Day (catcher) and Kayla Chavarria (center fielder) earned 1st Team All-District.
The following players earned 2nd team All-District: senior Destiny Chavarria (shortstop); sophomore Katie Wallace (1st baseman); junior Shawna Terry (left fielder); and Lauren Jenkins (outfielder and designated hitter).
Sophomore Skyler Tatman (2nd baseman) earned Honorable Mention.
Ten Lady Bears earned Academic All-District this season. They are: seniors Jordan Kisselburg and Destiny Chavarria; juniors Shannon Rhodes and Danelle Day; sophomores Skyler Tatman, Katie Wallace, Sidney Wright, Alexis Mathis and Regine Porter; and freshman Lauren Jenkins. These honorees earned a 3.5 or above Grade Point Average.
