Yellow Jackets defeat Bears in Thursday night season opener

Yellow Jacket Deion Hair-Griffin scored four touchdowns. three on the ground and one in the air, as Arlington Heights defeated Brewer 48-14 in the season opener for both teams Thursday at Farrington Field.

Brewer (0-1) took its first possession 61 yards in three plays to take a 7-0 lead after quarterback Brian Kueck finished the drive with a 35-yard scoring pass to Brian Lopez.

The Heights’ defense tightened up from there, allowing Hair-Griffin to guide the Yellow Jackets to 21 unanswered points.

The senior scored on runs of 29 and 17 yards to give Arlington Heights a 14-7 lead with 5:15 left in the first quarter.

Arlington Heights took a 21-7 lead into the half.

The Bears scored again when Jameson Carson make a strong run into the end zone from the 15-yard line. The run was set up by a 50-yard gain by Tre Johnson.Yellow
