Topgolf making divot in Cowtown

After months of hinting around that it was coming, you can now get ready to tee up for a Topgolf location in Fort Worth.
Topgolf International today officially unveiled Fort Worth as its fourth location in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, announcing plans to break ground this fall on the 65,000-square foot facility; at the southeast corner of Highway 121 and Interstate 35, north of West Fourth Street and west of the Trinity River.
The new location is expected to open to the public in late summer 2016.
Topgolf officials discussed expanding to Fort Worth last year with the Dallas-based company having other locations in Dallas, Allen and The Colony.
The new three-level location will include up to 3,000 square feet of private event space and 102 climate-controlled hitting bays that can host up to six players at one time. Officials estimate that Topgolf Fort Worth will serve approximately 450,000 visitors in its first year of operation. Topgolf is as much an entertainment center as a golfing destination. It offers competitive golfing games for a wide range of ages and skill levels, including technology to track shots for those interested in improving their game. But it also offers food and beverage options for those wanting a more relaxed experience. Company officials say nearly half of all Topgolf guests describe themselves as “non-golfers.”
Topgolf locations typically create about 450 full- and part-time jobs and often serve as an anchor tenant that tends to attract other franchises to the area. Its economic output in Fort Worth alone is expected to exceed $264.5 million over a 10-year-period, according to a third-party audit.
