Students fill principal’s office with balloons

tis reading challenge

Tannahill Inter-mediate fifth and sixth graders participated in National Young Readers Week, Nov. 9 through 13, by filling Principal Randy Summerhill’s office with balloons.
Every time a student read a book, he/she added a balloon with their book title and name to a collection in the principal’s office. Needless to say, Summerhill wasn’t able to use his office for two days; the kids read 750 books in just one week.
“Reading is the foundation and key to success for everything we strive to achieve with our kids in school,” said library aide Lisa Pearson. “We want our kids to not only be great readers, but to have a passion and love for reading so they can excel in their learning and in life.”
