A neighbor’s video captured an explosion at a home in White Settlement this past week. The neighbor shot the video just before fire crews arrived at the scene on Allencrest Drive near Las Vegas Trail Thursday night as the house fire turned into a fireball.
The White Settlement Fire Department believes the fire set off the explosion of a propane tank that was outside the house. Some neighbors and people at nearby Central Park said they were able to feel it as well as hear it.
Homeowner Derae Martinez was running from inside the home when the three tanks exploded in the backyard.
Fire officials believe an electrical short started a fire on the outside of a back wall of the home, which led to the bigger explosion.
“I’m lucky to get out when I did; the choice not to stay and put it out saved my life,” Martinez said in a report.
Firefighters assisting from Lockheed, River Oaks and Benbrook helped to quickly extinguish the flames.
No one was hurt, but the home was completely destroyed. You can see the video on our website at http://www.grizzlydetail.com
