A 14-year-old White Settlement student was arrested Tuesday after he threatened to “shoot up” Brewer Middle School, police said.
The teen, a student at the school, posted the threat to Snapchat on Monday night, Cpl. Jason Carter, police spokesman said. The Snapchat included a picture of an Airsoft gun, a “hit list” of eight names of students, and a message:
“I’m going to shoot up the middle school tomorrow, so if you don’t want to get shot, don’t come to school.”
The student was arrested Tuesday morning. He faces a third-degree felony charge of making a terroristic threat, Carter said.
No other students were involved.
White Settlement students are still in school this week. The school district’s holiday break begins Friday.
Communications director Desiree Coyle released the following statement on the school’s website:
“On Monday night, a threat by a Brewer Middle School student with images of an air soft gun circulated on social media. The White Settlement and WSISD Police Departments were contacted and they investigated the situation. After contacting the student and the family, local authorities determined there is no threat. WSISD takes any threat/joke regarding student safety very seriously.
Your child’s safety is our top priority, and the matter has been handled. While student consequences are confidential, we wish to inform you that we have taken every measure to ensure that your child will be safe at school.”
