Marie L. Canizales was a single mother raising her 5-year-old son. Her father, Sergio Canizales, said his 28-year-old daughter lived week to week on her paycheck, working to provide a good life for her son, Dylan Williams.
The Everman High School graduate had been baby-sitting during the weekend, her father said, and was on her way home early Sunday. She never got home.
Marie Canizales was killed early Sunday in a head-on collision on Boat Club Road. A 25-year-old Fort Worth man is accused of intoxication manslaughter.
She had been an athletic trainer at the school, her father said.
Police officials did not identify the suspect because he remained in a Fort Worth hospital and has not been arraigned, but police reports identified him as Adolph Cirilo Lopez III of Fort Worth.
The fatal accident occurred about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 6400 block of Boat Club Road.
