Soda Springs Bar-B-Q, a 32-year landmark has been sold to Heim Barbecue, according to owner Brenda Lewis, widow of Soda Springs founder Scott “Red Wheeler” Lewis.
On a facebook post, Heim Barbecue stated that it will use the building for a party and catering facility. For now, there are not plans to open it as a restaurant.
Soda Springs opened in 1985 when there were few other restaurants for workers near the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics assembly plant.
The State Fair of Texas, held every fall at Dallas’ Fair Park, is a feast for eyes, ears, and taste buds, with music, livestock shows, pig races, auto show, midway rides and games, and food.

Around 8:20 p.m. on January 27, 2017 two masked and armed robbers entered a Quik Sac convenience store on South Cherry Lane in White Settlement, Texas. The two gunmen immediately began demanding money from the clerk, and instructed patrons of the store to get down on the floor.
A State Senator plans to introduce legislation this week that would do away with Dallas County Schools (DCS) and their bus service. Currently, 12 school districts use DCS for bus transportation including White Settlement ISD. Continue reading
The city’s Transportation and Public Works Department is hosting a community meeting at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 6, to update residents on the improvements planned for Chapel Creek Bridge over Interstate 30. The meeting will take place at the Normandale Baptist Church located at 2001 Chapel Creek Blvd.
The existing two-lane bridge will be replaced with a new six-lane bridge over I-30. A turnaround bridge will also be constructed on the east side of the new bridge.

This section of a resident’s backyard fence along Chapel Creek Boulevard is crumbling onto a nearby sidewalk. A plan to replace the fence is finally in place with the help from The City of Fort Worth.
