Police looking for west side armed robber

Police are searching for a man suspected in at least two business robberies in Fort Worth.In each of the robberies the suspect used a small, black handgun to take money from cash advance loan businesses, according to police reports. The suspect is believed to be responsible for multiple armed robberies in the north Texas area. The suspect robbed the Advance America Store about 2:15 p.m. Monday in the 9100 block of Camp Bowie West Boulevard. Police believe the same suspect also robbed the Cash Store in the 3200 block of Sycamore School Road about 10 a.m. on Nov. 16, a police report said. He was seen running to a black four-door car, police said. The suspect is described as a light skinned African-American man between 25- and 30-years-old. He is between 5-feet 5-inches and 5-feet 8-inches tall, about 220 pounds and wearing a goatee. The suspect was seen wearing a red ball cap and a light blue denim jacket during the Advance America robbery, police said.Anyone with information is asked to call 817-392-4383.

Two men rob victim in late night transaction, one shot

A man was shot by an off-duty Fort Worth police officer that was searching for a robbery suspect just before midnight on Wednesday.
At 11:55 p.m., police dispatch received a 911 call from the victim of a robbery that occurred in the parking lot of a gas station in west Fort Worth at the intersection of Las Vegas Trail and South Normandale Street. The victim told police that they had agreed to buy an item online and was to meet the seller at the gas station. Two shirtless men arrived, and one pulled out a silver handgun and robbed the victim, they said. Continue reading

The service will be at 11 a.m. May 4 at the Police and Firefighters Memorial, 2201 W. Seventh St.

Man fatally shot in apartment complex

A man in his mid-20s was fatally shot at the Serrano Ranch apartments in far west Fort Worth Monday night, according to Fort Worth police.
The first 911 call came in at 8:49 p.m. The caller said a man was lying on the ground in the parking lot of the complex in the 8000 block of Calmont Ave. He was not breathing and bleeding from the back of his head, according to a police incident report.
A MedStar ambulance crew reported that the man was dead at the scene.

Vandals strike residents in Westpoint neighborhood

Driver rescued from vehicle

A driver was rescued this past week when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Cherry Lane and the I-30 access road. The accident left a white pick-up truck dangling precariously at the edge of a guardrail that ran along the access road protecting vehicles from falling about thirty feet below. Vehicle flips during lunch rush on White Settlement Rd. near Clifford

A pickup truck that appeared to be traveling north bound on White Settlement Rd. near Clifford Street ended up upside down this past week. It happened during the lunch hour bringing numerous citizens out of area eateries to aid the victim before emergency crews could arrive. Officials could only report that the driver was taken to an area hospital with injuries.

Man killed in highway accident

West Loop 820 at Clifford Street near White Settlement was shut down in both directions late Sunday after a man walking across both sides of the highway caused a fatal multi-vehicle accident, according to Fort Worth police.

The man was hit and died on scene at about 7:40 p.m., police said.

Three people had minor injuries after the accident, which involved up to three vehicles trying to avoid the man, one of which rolled over. The accident shut down both sides of the highway for several hours as traffic was diverted to the access roads. No information was available on the identity of the man.

Traffic diverted after utility pole threatens to fall on roadway

A utility pole threatening to fall on residential traffic along White Settlement Rd. in Westpoint shut down the road for several hours Monday. The pole, which had been leaning for several months, finally gave way cracking just three feet above the ground and was held in place by lines attached at the top. Workers installed the new poll and transferred lines while police diverted traffic to side streets.
